A better minwax product would be either minwax ultimate floor finish or minwax super fast drying polyurethane for floors.

Polycrylic is really quite versatile. Instead we recommend any minwax polyurethane including minwax water based oil modified polyurethane or minwax ultimate floor finish for maximum durability. In and of itself can be pretty safe but there are many kinds of acrylic. You are correct minwax polycrylic is a water based wood finish just not floors it can t handle the traffic.
